k-swiss's pictures | I've driven m30's and m20's. I always found the m20 to be spritely and willing to please. M30 just felt like what it is. No replacement for displacement. A big tractor motor of sorts in a 5'er or a 6'er. Different strokes for different folks I guess. |

Blakeoffire's pictures | There's never anything supportive, positive or even constructive coming from you whenever I post a pic/update thread or if I happen to offer my opinion of what I feel/experience about an engine/wheel/tire/suspension set-up/etc. when asked by other members. You're just always in an attack-like, defensive mode of conduct with me... So of course you set about referencing the M30 engine in my 6er as 'a big tractor motor of sorts'... ... oh gee ouch... no surprise there though.Yes Kirin, the M20 is a fine fine engine, I stated that quite clearly (aside from the laziness I happen to experience and its sometimes questionable pick-up/delivery and soundtrack). It just (for me... can you handle this?) has pronounced characteristics about it that don't seem to set my nerves-a-tingling with excitement...that's all. This debate is so ancient now... can't someone have an opinion on their M20 engine without you losing your shirt..? -B. | |

k-swiss's pictures | Blake, There is nothing at all close to attacking in my posts. An M30 is a tractor motor. I believe they even put them into motorhomes. Thats not even a bad thing really, Big displacement and tons of torque. Also how about the fact that its been around since the 70's and is a big hulk of iron. Compared to your beloved m42 and anything post that it is archaic and the amount of power you can get from it compared to common mills isn't very exciting. Seriously if you can't handle the flames get away from the fire. If you don't want to be judged don't post or make yourself a public presence. You know I love both m20's and m30's. But they are old and pretty behind the times. That being said if you truly feel that I have a grudge against you I'm more than willing to settle this via PM. |

A lot of guys say they get better economy because it optimizes the timing and fuel maps to be more efficient. I can't say if yours would increase as I drive my car with my "foot in it" more than the average person, so I am a poor example, but I didn't notice any increase in fuel consumption after the install. The great thing about Mark D. chips is that they improve idle, part throttle, and full throttle maps, unlike Dinan which is mainly optimized for full throttle. It is rated at min octane requirement of 93 but I have run Mohawk 94, 92, and 90 with no apparent adverse effects physically or audibly. |

k-swiss's pictures | I'm conclusive with Eugene. A chip does increase your power and can still return you good fuel economy. I was averaging around 450-515 per tank when I drove my e30 daily. Record for it though was a astonishing 615 per tank. All highway... |
