| newbie | 118i gear-box performance Hi, I recently bought a 6 month old 118i from a BMW main dealer. I found 2 problems - 1st consumption was high and engine sounded like a diesel (mine is petrol version). Believe this can be resolved quite easily. 2nd problem - gearbox performance. I am finding that the normal (rather than Sport mode)mode is very sluggish or slow to respond to changes in road circumstance. My previous car was a 10 yr old 328i and did not experience any of this.. some cld be due to bigger engine but not all.. My current car has problem recognising when speed is reduced, say when having to negotiate a sharp corner or slowing to deal with a speed bump. Gearbox does not drop down gears in relation to change of speed.. I wld have expected that newer gearbox wld have performance at least equal to a car 10 years older.. unfortunately, not so. What I want to know if other 118i owners experience this problem and if this can be resolved by a visit to the dealer ..  |
